However, such impacts can be difficult to directly demonstrate particularly as many of them require longitudinal tracking and controls to be in place to isolate the intervention of interest from other possible attributing factors. ![]() Policymakers are typically interested in the impacts that career guidance can make on a range of policy areas. The UK Government has launched a “careers strategy” for England (Department for Education, Citation2017) which builds on the framework set out by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation ( Citation2014) to improve the quality of career guidance available to young people in England. Concerns with the work and career readiness of young people, alongside other policy concerns such as social mobility and domestic skills alignment in the wake of Brexit has led to new policies which reaffirm the importance of providing young people with career support while at school.
